The theme for Responsible Gambling Awareness Week 2006 was Focus on the Future. The meaning of this theme was two-fold: it incorporated a focus on youth gambling prevention and also refered to innovation and future trends in the industry.
The 2006 Responsible Gambling Conference, held at the World Trade and Convention Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia on October 2nd and 3rd, incorporated this focus. Hosted by the Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation, the event was insightful, informative and progressive. More than 20 leading international experts discussed youth and community issues, examined emerging industry trends, and explored the future of responsible gambling.
The two-day conference provided an opportunity for members of the gaming industry, addictions counselors, healthcare professionals, community leaders, law enforcement officers, students, and others to learn more about the future of the industry, including how we can all work together to prevent the next generation of problem gamblers.
